[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] The dark brown tabby padded down from the cliffs and slopes of the mountain, moving at a slow, steady trot. He hadn't had any luck finding prey for the fresh kill pile up in the snow-filled cliffs, so he figured if he came down a thousand feet or so to where there was less snow, there would have to be more prey up and about. Silenteagle jumped from the last ledge, landing on the desolate, winding moor at the foot of the mountains. He stood up straight and looked around, feeling slightly wary. Most MountainClanners hunted in the somewhat compact, dense forests, not wide open space where there was much exposure. Nonetheless, the long furred warrior crept out over the hills, spotting a stunted bush and darting under it, watching the area for signs of movement. Sure enough, a little bit away, a somewhat skinny hare popped out of a burrow, grooming its whiskers. Silenteagle watched and tensed, preparing to strike.[/blockquote]

Duskleaf had been following Silenteagle, and watched as he darted under a bush. Soon she discovered what he was looking at, a hare. Her heart pounded in her chest as she looked for a place to hide. Then she spotted a large tree and hid behind it. She admired Silenteagles amazing pelt and saw that he was preparing to pounce. When he has caught it, I'll come out. Duskleaf decided.

The dark tabby pounced then and there, knocking the hare over. The animal scrabbled to get up and run, but by then it was too late; Silenteagle had biten its neck. He gave the mammal a quick shake before picking it up and heading back towards the mountain, stopping when he felt he was being watched. Amber eyes looked around until he thought he saw something under a tree. "Who's there?" Silenteagle asked around the hare in his jaws. It's probably just a chipmunk or something, but you never know.[/blockquote]

Duskleaf jumped out casually from behind the tree. "What? Oh don't worry it's only me. I was just stalking a squirell and it ran up this tree before I could get to it," She looked up into the tree's bare branches, as if trying to spot it. She was rather proud of her quick thinking- Silenteagle couldn't suspect anything now. "And by the way, that was well caught." Duskleaf said, flicking her tail prettily. She was glad about that wash she gave herself that morning.

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] The dark brown tabby watched as Duskleaf, of all things he thought the noise was, hopped out from behind the tree. Dark amber eyes cast up to the tree and back to the she-cat as she spoke, looking apprehensive but accepting what she said. Funny, I thought I would have heard her running or a squirrel scolding her. Maybe I was just too distracted with the hare. Silenteagle couldn't help but notice how pretty her brown toned coat looked today, but he pushed the thoughts away with a slight blush under his thick tabby stripes. He muttered a thanks to her compliment and dropped the hare. "I was just going to head to camp, but if we're hunting together, we ought to be able catch way more prey. And Hawkstar is picking the new deputy soon, I think, so maybe if we hunt more than usual..." A happy gleam was in his eyes at the thought, as he turned to Duskleaf for her answer.[/blockquote]

Duskleaf was very happy about being able to hunt by herself with Silenteagle. Maybe this way she could get to know him better. "Oh yes! That's a good idea. I mean, Hawkstar isn't going to want to choose a deputy who can't even feed the Clan," She purred. At that moment the sun suddenly came out from behind a cloud and sunlight hit her across the face. Funny... She thought to herself, but quickly forgot about it, as a light brown shape flickered behind Silenteagle. "Don't move, I'll get this," She said as she sprang. The rabbit was young and very quick but Duskleaf tried pretending to go one way and then quickly moving the other way. Thankfully the rabbit was fooled by this. Although Duskleaf was younger than Silenteagle, her experience as a warrior definately showed. "Not bad huh?" She said playfully, showing off.

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] The young tabby was happy that Duskleaf had agreed to go hunting with him. The idea of being deputy was strong and tempting, for both him and the she-cat, he was sure. I can just see it. Silentstar. Or Duskstar. They both sound great. Of course he was more keen for Silentstar, but who said Duskleaf couldn't be deputy? Wait... why was he even making these plans, so early? And why with Duskleaf, of all Clan members? I'm getting too far ahead of myself. Become deputy first, then make plans. Silenteagle congradulated Duskleaf on her catch and set off after a squirrel, catching it with ease and killing it simply by stepping on it. He looked around for any more prey available in the snow and biting cold, but found none, and went to gather his hare and squirrel, walking towards the cliffs of the mountainside.[/blockquote]

As Silenteagle went to gather his hare and squirrell, Duskleaf spotted a mouse hiding in a snow covered bush. She caught it quickly before it could get away. It's not much, but its something. She told herself. After all, everyone had to catch all the prey they could find in these snowy mountains, now it was leaf-bare. Although it didn't seem at all like new-leaf at the moment, Duskleaf hoped it was on its way.
She and Silenteagle had caught a lot for a leaf-bare's catch, and she hoped Hawkstar would be impressed. Duskleaf would love to have the responsibilty of a deputy, as she still felt she had to prove herself as a loyal warrior, as she was still young. Then again, if you are a leader of a Clan you wouldn't be able to have any kits. I suppose the Clan members are like your kits in a way... After all you do have to look after everyone. It wouldn't be the same as having your own family though... Duskleaf realised she had been there for a while. "Do you think this enough?" She asked Silenteagle. "I think so. Come one, lets get back to camp." She said, although she would have perhapes, rather stayed with Silenteagle for a bit longer.

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] Silenteagle managed to gather up all the prey he had caught, though with some difficulty, since a squirrel and a hare's ears are hard to fit in your mouth. He could only nod when the brown she-cat spoke, and stood, looking towards the mountainside and cliffs. The warrior started up the rocks, climbing slowly and surely since he had more weight to him with the prey. A few icey pebbles clattered down from beneath his paws, but the brown tabby ignored it, focusing on climbing until he was all the way to the top of the cliffs, and could see the tiny forest that surrounded the camp in the heart of the mountain. I made it. Hawkstar will be so pleased. Silenteagle set the prey down and stretched his limbs as he waited for Duskleaf to catch up.[/blockquote]

Duskleaf felt the ground under her paws and tried to be as stiff and as silent as it was as she stalked Silenteagle. He came to a halt and put his prey down. Duskleaf bunched her muscles and rocked on her haunches. Then she leaped, aiming to pounce on Silenteagle. Unluckily for her, Silenteagle just so happened to duck his head, causing Duskleaf to soar over the top of him. She landed on her back and started laughing hysterically. "Wow that was good wasn't it?" Duskleaf laughed sarcastically.

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] The dark brown tabby turned around and flinched when Duskleaf soared over him, crashing to the ground on the other side. He whipped back around and watched her, with a very confused look on his face. Is she trying to kill herself?! ...or me? Her laughing did tease out a small smile, but Silenteagle couldn't resist being the serious, egotistic warrior that he is. "Were you trying to kill yourself, or me? Or both?" He thought it over a moment, and decided that she must be trying to play or something. But where was the time to play, when one could be announced deputy? "Let's just get back to camp, I'm curious to see who Hawkstar's chosen for deputy." With that, the brown tabby picked his catches up again and started down the rocky trails towards the hidden camp, now finding what Duskleaf did rather funny, despite his criticism.[/blockquote]

"I was only trying to play!" Duskleaf meowed. She happily ran after him and jumped to his side like a kit. It must be all the worries about becoming deputy weighing him down. She guessed. But you can't live your whole life worrying. "Everythings so... dull here," Duskleaf muttered. The sun coming out had obiously put her in a happy mood and she couldn't understand why no one else (except the kits) was having fun. When Silenteagle didn't reply, she muttered, "You live up to your name, Silenteagle," Then she jumped in front of him so he couldn't go on walking. She waved a paw in front of his face. "Hello? Don't you know how to play?"

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] The dark warrior flicked his ears from side to side as he listened to Duskleaf's cheerful chirps. Despite how mature and presentable he was trying to act, he couldn't resist smiling a little, finding the fellow she-cats optimism refreshing, when compared to the dull tasks he made himself do in hopes of being deputy. But would it really be all that great? Everybody depending on you, while at the same time the leader watching your every move... He stopped in his tracks as she hopped at him, blinking from surprise and amusement. She's really wound up today. Silenteagle tried to walk forward again but found his path blocked by the chocolate colored warrior. Setting his catch down, he gave her a pretend-angry expression and dramatically sighed. "Oh alright, if it will keep you from chasing your tail," he replied in a mock-annoyed tone, before swatting at her whiskers and dashing away into the forest, running over rocks and ledges and leaping small chasms. A little fun couldn't hurt...[/blockquote]

Duskleaf was startled by his sudden movement and jumped out the way as he raced into the forest. "Hey come back!" Duskleaf meowed playfully. This was definately an improvment. So he did know how to have fun. She chased him into the forest, ducking under low branches and jumping over logs. She ran to block his path and then pinned him to the ground. She gazed down at him challengingly. I bet he couldn't resist when he saw how pretty you were looking. She thought. Don't be ridiculous. He probably doesn't like me any more then the other she-cats around here. The bad voice in her head said. She then remembered what she was doing. Duskleaf took a swipe at Silenteagles whiskers. Good. Now they were even.

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] The tabby warrior raced over the rocks and cliffs, weaving in and out of brush, hearing Duskleaf behidn him somewhere. She'll probably give up soon, and then you can just go get your catch and head to camp and-- His thought was cut off as he turned sharply to stop in time when she popped up in front of him, his feet not stopping in time from his momentum, and Silenteagle thumped to the ground, seeing Duskleaf pin him smugly. Oh great, you lost, to a she-cat! The kit-like tone sounded in his head as she drew a paw at his whiskers, which teased a wily grin onto his whiskerpads. Why do I find this so amusing? We're just playing... it's just Duskleaf... Silenteagle rolled over sharply to one side and narrowly escaped the she-cat's grip, as he watched her for a moment before batting at her ears and taking off into a tall pine tree. This is actually fun![/blockquote]

Duskleaf watched Silenteagle smile and then dart off. What was he doing? It didn't matter. Without giving it a second thought Duskleaf bounded off into the trees to follow him. She could not really see where she was going, but skidded to a halt when she found a large group of birds pecking at what looked like twoleg food. "Woah..." more and more birds where appearing in the sky, ready to land. Duskleaf looked at Silenteagle. "I hope you're thinking what I'm thinking." She said quietly. She then charged, straight through the birds. They took off. All Duskleaf could see was birds scattering in the sky in every direction. Duskleaf always used to do this as an apprentice, it brought back some happy memories.

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] The dark tabby hurried up onto a thick branch, watching Duskleaf below, seeing the flock of birds pecking and chirping not too far off. The birds have returned... newleaf is on its way. He thought for a moment as a warm southern breeze ruffled his fur way up on his perch, his ears perking as Duskleaf ran through the flock, terrifying the birds and sending them up into the sky. Silenteagle swatted at a few as they flew by, before turning around and climbing slowly down the trunk backwards, landing with a dull thud on the rocky forest floor. "That was fun," he mewed shyly, looking towards camp. Should we go back yet? ...No, a few more minutes won't hurt. The strong southern breeze whipped up again, sending a shower of leaves and forest debris into the air, raining down on the two like fairy dust. The dark tabby looked up and paused before leaping up and chasing leaves, as the wind flicked them up into the air over and over.[/blockquote]

Duskleaf watched silently as leaves and dust and other things appeared to fall slowly from the sky.She perked up her ears to watch Silenteagle play and pounce on the leaves. She couldn't help but giggle at how playful he had gotten all of a sudden. Then she saw a small pile of leaves next to her. "Silenteagle," She said prettily. "Come over here." When Silenteagle turned round she swatted the pile and leaves flew at him. Duskleaf then turned and ran for her life. She looked behind to see where Silenteagle was when she crashed into a large tree trunk, which sent her flying. She landed on her back. Again. "That's the second time today!" Duskleaf spluttered through sneezing laughter as tiny leaves and dust flew up her nose.

[/b] ilenteagle[/color][/blockquote] cherish the moments we may never again see cherish the power to always be free[/blockquote] Newleaf really seemed to be in the air as the normally self-concious tabby leapt at the leaves, days of kithood seeming to drift back to him. Time appeared to have stood still, the world consisting of nothing except the shower of leaves and Duskleaf's laughter. At that thought he stopped. Are you paying that much attention to her? You're acting like a lovesick apprentice! And yet, when Duskleaf said his name so sweetly, he instantly turned around and walked over to her... only to have leaves fly in his face. The tom sputtered and batted the leaves from his face in time to see Duskleaf's disappearing chocolate tail. "You're not getting away this time!" he called with mock anger, racing after her into the forest. He cut a corner around a grove of saplings and saw Duskleaf look back at him before heading straight into a tree. Alarm shot through his mind. Is she okay?!The dark brown tabby ran over to her side, a look of concern on his features. Silenteagle saw that she was laughing and sneezing, so he relaxed, surprising himself by how relieved he was she was okay. "Well that was intelligent," he said teasingly, batting at her tail good-naturedly.[/blockquote]

Duskleaf looked up to see Silenteagle standing over her. She gazed into his eyes which appeared to shine like the sun on a summer's day. She shook her head. What was she doing? It was only a tom. It was only Silenteagle. But she couldn't help getting butterflies in her stomach every time she looked at him. When she heard his teasing remark she laughed. "Oh yes, it was awfully intelligent," Duskleaf got up elegently, smiled at Silenteagle and looked down at him in a superior way. "I think its time we got back." She said in a soft voice. She then turned gracefully to lead the way back to camp.
