- I took the name of Leafmoon in memory of my parents.
- StarClan willed me a female.
- I am a feline, with the blood of a true mountain lion mixed into in my past.
- I have seen 30 full moons go by.
- Witness who I am.
Well, for one, twolegs aren't too fond of her. From far away she could easily be mistaken for a mountain lion! Then again, if your great-grandparents were born tiny runts of the puma species, wouldn't you take after a few of the features? Leafmoon most certainly does. Very big for a Clan cat, two and a half feet tall at the shoulder, with muscled hind legs for jumping. A tawny-red tail, long and thick with the tip dipped in ebony. Somewhat stocky, thick legs and huge, round paws, perfect for walking across rocks and ice. Leafmoon's fur is a tad bit longer than short, very thick, and a light tawny-red shading to cream on the underbelly. Two black ears perch atop a round, wide face. The muzzle is white but has two black vertical stripes running from just above the nose down to the corners of her whiskerpads. Icey blue eyes, like chips of glacier or hail, see the world for her, and show the emotions of the past. The same eyes viscious villains had stared into in fear whilst taking their last breaths, but somehow also the same eyes that kits found comfort in approaching, and the same sparking orbs of laughter that Leafmoon's closest see. But such coldly colored eyes have seen far worse things than simply the crazed look of fear of a criminal she was attacking.
- I chose the path of a warrior of MountainClan.
- You wish to know of my heart and soul?
There's a phrase "Don't taunt the mountain lion." And there's such a phrase for good reason. Don't mess with Leafmoon. Provided, the phrase obviously was not invented just for Leafmoon, but you get the point. Leafmoon is pretty easy-going and steady, patient and understanding. There are more times than not that she is the calm one in horrid situations that would leave others freaking out, but she can be nervous just like anybody. However, Leafmoon isn't afraid to let you know what she's thinking, sharp tongue and all. There are indeed times when she's snappy, or even all-out losing her temper, but it only happens if someone realllly ticks her off. Cats that respect the rules, are mannered and orderly are her crowd; those that are opposite are those that should be advised not to taunt the mountian lion. Doing the latter will result in a hard blow from a heavy, huge paw, or a chilling glare from those chips of ice that see thine world. Truly, there are many sides and faucets to this gem of a cat, ranging from generous and loving to horrifically murderous and veangeful. Beware how you balance the scales around Leafmoon; lean them one way and she'll be your friend, lean them the other way and she'll be pinning you down with all 60 lbs of muscles, shredding your scruff and spine to pieces. But balance the scales just right....and you'll make it onto her 'good' list. The dark side is always much more shadowed than first appears.
- Oh, the memories never truly fade...
A little more...complicated than most. You know those great-grandparents we were talking of? Well, some puma somewhere in the mountains near the Clans gave birth to a litter of cubs. Nothing out of the ordinary there. But one was a runt of the litter, extremely tiny for the cats that are normally ten feet long and three hundred pounds. This runt would end up being Leafmoon's grandmother. The runt cub grew up and went on her ways, obviously unable to tango with her direct relatives because, well, she was wayyy too small. Coming across WindClan, she joined these cats that were, shall we say, more her size. Zoom ahead several generations. Leafmoon's mother, Moonsong, looked alot like her only built more 'normally' and had alot more silver to her fur. But her father, Bluemoon, was almost a carbon copy of his grandmother. Leafmoon came about looking alot more like Bluemoon. But then one night, Moonsong recieved a startling message from StarClan, startling that she had even recieved one at all, and startling at its ominous message: The leaves that tumble from the moon must raise the Clans before it's too late. Follow the Northern Star, keep walking until frost covers your pawsteps. Basically, Leafmoon, or Leafkit for the moment, was supposed to fulfill some unknown, unfinished business somewhere in the past on her father's side. Whatever that must have been we will never know, for Bluemoon was killed in battle with ShadowClan a week after Leafmoon was born. Moonsong had come to the Clan as a rogue, and had never really fitted in with anyone, except Bluemoon, who seemed to know more about the outside world than most. When he died, she realized that nobody would relate to her except Leafkit, and set off North, away from the Clans that she had never really been apart of, and deciding she had no choice but to follow that eerie message those above had sent her. Leap ahead four moons. Moonsong is dead, the cause of death is unknown, though it could be age, disease, or simply a broken heart. Luckily, she had told Leafkit her little destiny, and the understanding she-cat, though young, had quietly accepted it. The kit nosed her a final time before padding on north, not knowing what tomorrow would bring. Take a swan dive ahead twelve moons. Leafkit, who would by now be Leafpaw and then whatever name the WindClan leader would've given her, has survived starvation seven times and frostbite and sheer loss of hope countless times. The only things that kept her going was doing what her mother would have wanted her to do, and knowing that StarClan was there alongside her every step of the way. Leafmoon discovers the remnants of Clans she had never heard of. There are five: EarthClan, FireClan, WaterClan, WindClan, and MetalClan. She finds her way to EarthClan, and does what StarClan wanted her to do, stepping in as the leader they needed and helping to rebuild the tattered Clans that were on the brink of destruction, with the help of mysterious, old friends of Bluemoon, who came from who knows where. She chooses the name Leafmoon, in honor of her parents who didn't get to live to see her now. But StarClan isn't done yet. Leafmoon gets another message, that she has helped the forests as promised, but now she must move on elsewhere, to help Clans in other places, other days and lives, seemingly other worlds... Leaving her Clan and all she held dear, the puma-like she-cat sets out yet again, without another glance back.
The life of a loner appealed to her greatly. Being the strong, large cat she was, she could hunt sufficiently and protect herself easily from friend and foe alike. That message of helping other Clans had drifted to the back of her mind, so far back that she only barely remembered it when she came across MountainClan one day, having lost her way in the snow. The valiant Clan, though wary, allowed her to join their ranks, and Leafmoon was immediately accepted, though many are still unsure of her. Now she is back on the road to helping StarClan, but as her past haunts her, Leafmoon is drifting further and further away from the cat she once was...
