I considered closing KF for a long time, not sure if I wanted to take on the responsibility of managing a big site like this again.
Roleplays are a lot of work. They're like a child or a pet, you must tend to them constantly to ensure their survival. Though usually the work is rewarding, it is also work that I didn't have to do for a few months.
In that time frame, I have become devoted to other sites (non roleplay and non proboards), and focused a lot more on my art, which is the heartbeat to my life. and my only chance at college.
I grew out of Warriors a while back, too. (Personally I think they should have ended the books after the third series, for now the books are a bit boring and predictable.)
Plus I'm not entirely sure I want to be a part of that community anymore.
I want KF to be something even more original than it already is.
You can search the web and find thousands of Warriors roleplays now... I want KF to be a unique, one-of-a-kind roleplay that can be found no where else.
That being said, KF will still have cats you can roleplay, and mutated ones at that. The plot, social structures, and general idea for the site will be much different.
Here's what I have in mind:
--The whole set up of the site will be more realistic; cats in the wild live in loose social groups, led by the oldest female with the most litters/still able to breed. Though each cat has its own small territory, females tend to stick together in colonies, caring for each other's kittens, and defending the group's territory together. Males must live alone and usually have territories about 10x the size of a female's. Female territories may overlap into a male's or another female's, but the territories between two males never cross.
--Going off of that, there will be three main colonies, to replace the Clans there are now. Unfortunately, any males in power will be kicked out, since colonies in the wild are made up of queens and their litters. Outsiders may join the colonies peacefully if they are female, though there is always hostility and wariness in the beginning. Cats under six months are usually accepted too.
--Integrating male territories will be a tricky one, since they are so abstract in real life, but I think for each colony there can be up to one male territory in each direction (north, south, east, and west.)
Example: There is one male north of Colony A. He wants to expand his territory, so he challenges the male that is west of Colony A, and so on.
In real life, toms must fight their ways into the ranks and into territories, and also battle for mates. They often have to keep fighting their whole lives to keep their territories.
--- A female kitten at 6 months may leave or stay with her birth colony, while a male kitten is driven out, and thus must begin his fight to claim a spot in the world.
--- Cats that are neutered/spayed or sterile, in feral society, are condemned to solitary lives full of harrassment from the cats who can breed. They would be the cats that would count as loners, or outsiders.
That's a pretty condensed summary of what KF would be all about, after its remodel.
A new but not entirely new plot will be written, all boards redone and all staff removed, as well as all characters.
If you want to edit and resubmit your character bios, though, that is fine, they will all be in the archives waiting for you.
A new joining form will be made, as well as a new skin and new... everything! I'll do what I can tonight, and I'll try to slowly mold KF into its new self to have it ready, hopefully, by the end of May.
There will be an activity check when KF is completely remodeled, so be prepared!
Questions? Concerns? Comments? Reply away!
