- Name: Arcaine
- Gender: Tom
- Species: Feline
- Age : 14-moons
- Closest breed:
- Picture URL (if applicable): i49.tinypic.com/2je4vur.jpg
- Physical description (if no picture is available): Arcaine is about the same size as any tom his age, if not a slight bit smaller. However, he is well-muscled, as well as lean. His fur is on the shorter side, so it isn't hard to see his hard and lithe frame. It is an ebony black, so dark sometimes it can seem almost purplish. Red stripes streak randomly through his fur, all different shades and tints, but mainly red. One particular splotch on his right eye is shaped half of a masquerade mask. His eyes are two different colors. His right eye is a bright amber, and the left an icy cyan.
- Status: Lone Male
- Rank (if in a colony): --
- Personality: Detached is the best word to describe him. Arcaine is not a cat of many words or emotion, although he has an iron-will. He is stubborn. It doesn't seem like he's capable of much expression. He maintains a very cold disposition, as though he does not care much for anything in particular. As a result, he keeps to himself, prefering to be left alone in most cases. When he does interact with the other cats of the group, Arcaine never says much. Only a comment or two there, most emotions are hidden beneath the cold gaze of his eyes.
It takes a lot to drag him out of his emotionless attitude. When angered, his words can be sharp and cutting. Arcaine is blunt, and always cuts to the point. Sometimes he may seem cold hearted, but silence is his nature. Secrecy is also a major component of his personality. Never has this cat been the touchy-feely type. Instead, he keeps almost everything bottled up in him. In truth, he is a very warm-hearted cat. Though his secrecy and stealth makes it seem the other way around, he will only kill when absolutely necessary.
Arcaine also prefers nighttime to morning. As a result, he doesn't sleep all that much, able to sustain himself with just a bit of sleep. In the cover of night, he blends into the shadows, all but his eyes showing. With his calm demeanor, it makes it seem as though sometimes he is just a shadow. However, despite his lack of expression, he is a fearsome fighter when that's what it comes down to. Though he strictly keeps from killing, Arcaine is not afraid to rough up the opponent. He never underestimates a cat, and relies on speed to take down the foe. After all, brute force is not an option for one as small as him. He does not lose himself easily, and does not lose sight of his goal. Even in the heat of battle or in a haze of fury, he remains clear-headed and never goes too far.
- History: There are not many cats who know of Arcaine's entire past. In fact, when he mentions anything about it, they are simply fragments, pieces of it--never enough for a cat to learn anything of value though. This black cat hadn't always been a loner. Most of it was, but for a short time he had lived with the Sunset Colony.
His father, Flash, had been born and raised in the Prowler group. His mother though, was pure Swimmer. Of course, Red was a lone male by the time the two of them first met. The pair complemented each other, and soon had kits. Two; Arcaine and another kit named Mystic. Arcaine was the only cat of the litter to have inherited a fur color from both parents--black and red. Unlike most families though, the father took the kits. Their mother, of course, had been rather reluctant with not having them be raised in the colony. Had it not been for the fact that she dreaded the prospect of raising them and then having to kick them out in the future, the kits would have grown up as Swimmers. As a result, Flash took them to live on the edges of the Sunset colony's territory.
Being a runt, Mystic would often take advantage of his own greater size. This led to a lot of 'playfights', in which Mystic would 'accidentally' hurt Arcaine. But the black kit never complained or whined to Flash, for even then he had been a rather withdrawn cat. Their lives were rather average, with Flash teaching them everything he knew of hunting and battling. However, one leafbare in particular changed Arcaine's life forever. It was a particularly harsh one. Mystic caught a sickness. They were feverish, constantly coughing, and weakened.
As the cough worsened, it became clear to any cat that he wouldn't make it. Despite the risk of catching it from his brother, Arcaine remained with them. Mystic soon died, and shortly afterwards, Flash began expressing the same symptoms. Arcaine kept up his nonchalant attitude, but he practiced the techniques he'd learned from Flash with a somewhat sullen disposition.
Flash's health worsened as the days passed. The days were growing warmer, but it did no good. Finally, as Flash was near dying, he instructed Arcaine to go to the Swimmers. He wasn't going to last much longer, he said. The colony would take in the still young tom, especially since one of them was his mother, until he matured. Arcaine stayed with his father until the older cat died before setting out. As predicted by Flash, the Sunset Colony accepted him. His mother grieved the death of the others when he told her, and did her best to pass on all the knowledge she thought he would need. Some herbs, healing techniques, and of course the other survival skills he would need. Eventually, he was old enough to set out on his own path. Ever since then, he'd been drifting around, looking for an appropriate place to call his.
