I CAME I SAW I CONQUERED [/font] White arcs flashed through the air. Bared fangs glinted in the dim light. Narrowed eyes blazed with determination. A brief spurt of crimson. A sharp yelp of pain and surprise. Defiant hissing. Thump. There the battle ended, over as soon as it had begun. It seemed to have only lasted several slow heartbeats. The deed was done. Cyan and yellow eyes gazed down, meeting the other tom's own green ones. They were cold, nonchalant, despite his recent victory. His paw was pressed down firmly on his foe's chest, keeping him from wriggling away. "It's over. Leave now, and I suggest you don't return. Next time I will not be so merciful, Arcaine said simply. His voice, like his gaze, was flat and without feeling. No sympathy, excitement, exhaustion, or even happiness. The black cat stepped back, allowing the defeated cat to scramble up. It said nothing, though the dislike was evident as it limped away, a gash on it's shoulder and a cut on its flank. Nothing fatal, but enough to ensure that it would be unable to effectively fight any longer. That it would be fruitless to try to continue.
Watching the tabby limp away, still Arcaine showed no emotion, coolly raking his claws through the grass to clear the crimson paint off of it. Whiskers twitching, he turned his attention away from the vanishing figure to take stock of his surroundings. His territory. This place belonged to him now, and, admittedly, he did feel a slight twinge of satisfaction. Of course, he had had his sights set on this particular piece of territory for awhile, and it was about time he actually took the steps to take over. It was night time, with shafts of moon light slicing through the gaps in the 'canopy'. They spilled over the undergrowth, providing some light to travel by. Perhaps his time of attack had been a bit unusual, being at the dead of night, and had caught the previous owner a bit off guard. While some would have thought such methods were a bit cowardly, but it had taken careful thinking. Besides, being so much smaller than most other toms was a disadvantage that he made up for with speed and cunning.
Tall oak trees towered over the snow-covered roots. Their large branches stretched outwards, bare of leaves but still thick enough to block much of the moonlight. Shorter, younger trees stood amongst these greater beings. Plant life sprouted from the bases of these trees, brittle in the biting cold. All the same, the faint scent of prey still drifted through the winding undergrowth. Not a bad place to call home. The darkness also suited the Prowler blood that ran through his veins. Breathing in the frigid air, Arcaine padded forward, his paws silent on the hard ground. Again, the same thought as before flitted through his mind, this time with a secret flash of happiness. This is mine.

AURORA BOREALIS
Aurora Borealis, matriach of the Swimmers, was out on the hunt. So far, she'd found nothing, but, the scent of a new tom met her delicate nose on the southern territory. A scent she had never smelled, mixed in with the tom who owned that land. A smile lay across her lips as she abandoned her hunt, and went to check out who had won the quite obvious fight.
After a fair amount of walking, she found him, after running into the previous occupant of the southern territory. The new tom was smaller, younger, black with aubergine stripes and a mismatched pair of eyes, yellow and cyan. Aurora sat down calmly, and watched him with her pink eyes. She licked her blue and green paw, and ran it over the fire burst on her head, still studying him with those eyes. It was about time someone kicked off that old mangy tabby from the south, and Aurora was beginning to like the look of the new boy.
Knowing quite well she had already given herself away, Aurora stood slowly, gracefully, and drifted over, her paws barely lifting from the ground, barely a sound eminating from them. Her unblinking eyes watched the tom's ever move, making she he didn't make a move on her before she allowed him to. She licked her fangs, and began to speak.
"Well, hello there... It's about time my colony had some new males to breed with." she purred, blinking once.

The frosted over earth crunched, almost completely silent, under his paws. While the thick canopy of oak branches protected the area from heavy fall, there was little it could do to prevent frost from forming. Then again, there had been frost everywhere even before he had arrived here. Accustomed to the woes that came with leafbare, the tom hardly paid it no mind. As long as there was prey, and some herbs--which there were--then he was fine. Still walking slowly among the many trees, he slowed his pace. He cast his senses out, probing his quiet surroundings for a hint of any nearby prey. Chances were that most of them would still be curled up underground, holed up somewhere he couldn't get to. Ah, well. Snack would have to wait. Releasing a brief sigh of resignation, Arcaine slowed to a stop. And stiffened. A new scent drifted through the night air. Suddenly alert, his different colored eyes narrowed to thin slits, flashing coldly as they raked the nearby undergrowth. He breathed in deeply, letting the smell flood in. It was a cat, that was for sure. Whiskers quivering with tension, he concentrated on the smell. Eventually, recognition dawned. It was none other than the scent that all the Swimmers shared. And that meant it was a she-cat, not a new lone male coming to challenge his rights to this territory. Slightly less wary, it was not long before he felt the eyes watching him.
Arcaine turned his head, focusing his nonchalant gaze on the cat-like figure in the shadows. Aurora... The name popped up in his mind as he recognized her. The Sunset Colony's matriarch. Various colors were splashed across the she-cats face, green cheeks contrasting with her bright pink eyes. He appraised her, no sign of surprise or any other emotion flitting across his features. Under his black pelt, his muscles were tense. Matriarch or not, she was still an intruder.
"Well, hello there... It's about time my colony had some new males to breed with."
Even he was unable to completely mask his surprise, and it showed on his face. Blinking it a way, he nodded curtly, managing a brief greeting. "Hello."
'Lo there, crow~ sorry for the fail post x.x

AURORA BOREALIS
"Hello."
A thin smile played on Aurora's lips. He recognised her almost immeadiately. He was tense, ready to defend his territory, but he was a fine specimen. However, his defensive stance was for waste, as Aurora was only here to check him out, to look him over, to see if he was worthy enough for her girls.
"No need to be tense. I'm only checking your worth for my girls. Wouldn't want another weak tom controlling this patch. I think, looking at you, my girls will be rather attracted to you." she grinned, running her green and blue left forepaw over her head again, her ears flicking back underneath the paw.
"I must say, you didn't exactly use much effort driving away the old tabby. You look like a promising father for my colony's kittens." Aurora was flattering the young thing, but she wanted him to be on her side. Many of the cats in her colony were coming into season, herself included. No doubt the tom could smell it on her pelt. In a few days, Aurora would be ready to conceive once more, and she planned, and hoped, that this handsome young thing would be the father of her next litter. He was no Runt, but, he was a handsome cat. She wouldn't take him as her mate, no. Just a fling to carry on the genes of her colony.

He continued staring at her, unblinking. His face was blank once more, regaining the usual lack of expression. At her assurance, he still didn't move. So she was only investigating the new guy. Okay. He didn't care much about that, if at all. Odd that she would simply show up in the middle of the night as though it were perfectly normal, Arcaine mused. Unlike himself, she probably didn't have any Twilight blood in her. Suspicion was to be expected for such surprising "visits." The tom's ears twitched slightly. Probably wasn't the exact response Aurora was looking for, considering how she was laying on the flattery.
"Not interested." His voice was calm. Not quite rude or polite. Just blunt. That said, Arcaine fell silent, waiting for her to get on with it. If this was all that she had come to do, she was done as far as he was concerned. [/blockquote]

AURORA BOREALIS
"Not interested."
Aurora was taken-aback, yes, but, only her ear flicked in a little anger. Usually, a tom would jump at the chance to mate with the matriach of any colony. Her reason for being up at such a late hour was, that, not only did she have a headache and wished to walk it off, her father, Rage, was, according to her mother, a half-Twilight colony tom, where his mother had come from. Unlike most of her cats, she enjoyed a night stroll, despite her fur being totally the wrong colour for night.
"That's fair enough." she meowed, standing up. "I just heard there was a new boy on the block, so I figured I'd check him out. Easier to get out at night, y'see." she purred lightly, padding the floor gently. He was coming off hard to get, but Aurora knew from experience just how hard it was for tom's to resist a girl in heat.
"Well, I'm done here." Aurora meowed, standing and turning. She looked over her shoulder. "Still, you're quite a cute boy."

Growing irritation caused his tail-tip to twitch ever so slightly. In the shadows though, it would be hard to see him with his black cloak, even though reddish streaks sliced across the ebony fur. With his nearly unshakable personality and mask of detachment, he was almost like a shadow himself. Other than his bright mismatched eyes, were seemed to shed its own light even though there was barely any moonlight down here. They were cold enough to match the frost underfoot as they continued to bore into the she-cat's slim form. He didn't let anything, not even the smallest movements, escape his piercing orbs. Was she going to leave anytime soon? Through the gaps in the wooden canopy, the tom could see that the ultramarine night sky was becoming streaked with elongating tendrils of pink and pale yellow. Dawn was coming, and that meant the awakening of prey. For a brief instant he felt a brief flicker of disappointment that he had wasted the rest of the night with the matriarch. It was, unsurprisingly, his favorite time in the course of a day, when darkness hung over the land. And nothing was there to disturb the silence as this visitor had done. Either way, prey would be emerging soon, and he would rather see her leave before going off to hunt. Plus, what was with her weird terms? Last time he checked, colony leaders usually didn't come from Twolegs, so what she was trying to prove, tossing around so many Twoleg terms? 'Block'? Last he checked this whole area was open wilderness.
Not revealing any of his true thoughts, Arcaine merely blinked at her parting comments. "Good bye," he meowed firmly, leaving no room for conversation.
