x. Pitter-patter. Bugger. It was raining, how brilliant, fantastic, and just plain wonderful. Water-drops on her whiskers and prey too scared of getting wet to come out their little hide-hidey holes. The little scamps would fling themselves out in the water (oh, she'd let them do - a little learning experience never did anyone more than just a little harm) and dart back in, shaking off a coat of water. Nothing like an even sheen of ice water coating the den to wake everybody-up. A purr of amusement shot through her, eyes flashing open to check if she had been heard. Nope! Not even little Sevvy, curled up next to her, flicked a ear. Silly kitling needed to pay more attention to her surroundings or she'd get gobbled up one of these days - hah! - what a mess that would be. x. What had she been thinking about..? Oh, yeah, yeah, it had been the rain. Before that maybe it was a little rant about having to get up. Or motivational speech. She forgot what mood she had been in. Wasn't the same quasi-irritated mood right now, she knew. Regardless (although there was very little to regard, she noted), the cat rose, puffing up her fur. With an inelegant shrug, she stretched. That was better, now she could think (blessed silence, thank harar). x. Did her teeth shine in the light, like a newborn kitlings, or were they all yellow and stained? She preferred to believe that they as sparkling as they were the day she was born - but the wavy river water gave little assistance in determining that - so.... It was very clear; she would have to ask her friend-buddy-assistant. Who was nowhere to be found. Her eyes narrowed. She glanced around. Most of her kincats were out for some insane reason, maybe hiding in the rain. The smarties kept inside or on watch or something. One was sleeping, beside her precious Sevvy. A brown, or maybe black or red or some pretty color, cat. She nudged the form of the cat with a wet paw. The rain fell hard on the mountainside, leaving the air streaked with falling drops. Among a pile of lichen covered rocks lay a dark shape. Though outside of the colony camp, it was just enough shelter to keep the kitten dry. It's chocolate fur was in sharp contrast to the whiter color of the lichen, though still dulled by the rain, just as the whiteness of the stripes and the wings were. Aanasae lay on his side, and shivered at the cool cold of the rain. He didn't know where he was, or how to get back to where he was supposed to be. Wherever that even was. He curled his paws closer to his stomach, and a mewl escaped his mouth. He didn't like the lonliness the weather brought. Maybe someone would hear him, and he'd be out of this cold.

x. There was mew-MEWING ringing in her ears. It would have to stop, preferably on it's on and this moment. NOW. The mere wishing that it would happen did not thing, predictably, so she'd have to stop it herself. As always. The pretty colored cat let out a soft grunt. A reasonable explanation was on the tip of her tongue, tone planned and expression placid, but the feline didn't rise out of it's slumber. It-she-he-she? curled tighter into ball; she pressed her head against the cat's side for the moment (really now, girl or boy?) in affection. Plushy-y, a very plush furred cat. Tiny, a bit on the small side; young, was it young or just little? Oh, well. Another question left open. x. The mew. There was still that thing to pull her attention away from the think-furred feline. Her fur was puffed up, a bit more than usual. Cold? Or was she just a little paranoid about the miaow? It sounded like it came from kitling, but it could be an impish rouge ( impish! small, she corrected) stalking them with malicious intent. It would have to be perused (perused? that couldn't be right). x. She flinched as the rain hit her skin, instantly soaking her. COLD. Very icy. It would have been better to go back to sleep, dreamless and warm. Instead, a kitling would have to be dealt with. Or possibly a rouge. She hadn't ruled that out yet. It was dark, her vision wasn't the strongest and rain washed away scent; was this feline hers, or did it belong to another? Best to not ask, at the moment. Kit was cold. "Nre'fa-o, kitling. Will you join us inside?"[/blockquote][/blockquote] and maybe you'll find life is unkind and over so soon THERE IS NO GOLDEN GATE, THERE'S NO HEAVEN WAITING FOR YOU

Aanasae mewed again, as a raindrop splashed on his nose. A soft pink tongue peeked out as he licked it off. Smelling another approaching, the kitten looked up, his amber-yellowed eyes blinking open. Above him stood a marbled colored cat, apparently unhappy that she was getting wet. "Hello," he said quietly, wondering why she was here. She didn't look familiar to him.
The tabby's ears perked up when the other spoke. Her voice had an odd accent to it, and he didn't understand the first part of what she said. He'd still heard enough to reply, though.
"Yes, please. Thank you." Aanasae said politely, getting to his paws. His wings lifted slightly when he moved, and the feathers ruffled themselves in irritation at the water drops before calming down. Trying to ignore the water pellets falling down on him, he looked up at the she-cat, ready to follow her lead to warmth. One of the falling drops flicked the tip of his ear.

x. The kit stared at her for a moment, long enough to for her to hope that this one wasn't a stubborn, do everything for himself type. Harar, was that annoying! Independence was fine, she was all for that, but why make things so hard on yourself? It wasn't like life got any easier. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts. But then the kit spoke, and her thoughts were tucked away. He was polite. How unusual. One would think that she'd get more of it, given her position in the colony, but no! Respect, yes. Please and thank you? In her dreams. x. Perhaps this was another one of her imaginings; the kit had wings (wings!). Pretty, feathery? maybe, wings stuck on his back. Odd that a mutated cat would be up here in the mountains. This young kit could be a spy after all, a poor choice, but perhaps he was the most normal one. Gah, that was a horrid thought - the mutated were just as normal as she, right? Absent-mindly she nodded, turning tail to the tabby. x. Ah. That was soothing, being back inside. Too bad none had noted her absence, unobservant brats. She shook her fur out, realizing that she was just as bad as her scamps - oh, well. She had only gone out once, so it wasn't quite bad. Now back to the new kit, with the pretty wings. "I'm Casimir, Matriarch of this little group here. What's your name?"[/blockquote][/blockquote] and maybe you'll find life is unkind and over so soon THERE IS NO GOLDEN GATE, THERE'S NO HEAVEN WAITING FOR YOU

He noticed the she-cat stare at his wings for a moment, and self-consciously pressed them even closer to his side. What was she thinking about them? But she only lingered for a moment, before turning tail. Time to follow her then.
Aanasae placed his paws carefully and quickly as he followed across the rocks. What with the drenching rain, they had become slightly slippery, and he didn't want to fall down. But the rain was uncomfortable, and he wanted to be inside as quick as possible as well. A quick glance around from the marbled cat showed him lots of rocks, with a few spare trees here and there. A mountainside, he guessed. Had he always been on a mountainside? He didn't know.
There was a cave here. At least there was finally shelter from the rain. There were several cats lounging around near the entrance; some were sleeping, others were grooming themselves. And there seemed to be more cats further back, though he couldn't quite tell. None of them were paying any attention. Odd.
The kitten shook himself out, landing some water on a sleeping cat. He glanced over apologetically, but they didn't wake up. Oh well. His wings raised slightly to roll the last of the drops off, he looked up to see the she-cat again. His wings settled and he sat down, his fur now more puffed than when he was found, but his attitude overall happier.
Matriarch? He'd never heard the term before. He'd assume it meant leader, for now. He wasn't sure if Casimir would be angry if he asked what it meant. Casimir. Seemed to be a good name for the cat, though he wasn't one to judge. "My name's Aanasae," he replied, wrapping his tail closer to himself. The chill of the rain was starting to get to him. His eyes glanced over the assembled (albeit seemingly ignorant) cats before returning to Casimir. "Do you call yourselves anything specific?" ooc: I'm finally back in my RPing groove

x. She inclined her head to a cat that addressed her with a familiar greeting. "Not so great today, my friend." She murmured, laughing softly as the feline took it upon herself to determine that herself. Her kyn were such an inquisitive type. Most unsociable too, she supposed, but little else could be expected. Or something intelligent and leader-ish sounding like that. The oddest affairs musings (affairs? harar, where did that come from?) erupted from her at the most inopportune of times. It was pure speculation, but she assumed she purposely rambled in order for her to merely think. If she considered it, her thoughts were structured as to insinuate intelligence if any were to ever read her mind. Ah! The winged-kit was questioning. Casimir directed her attention back to Aanasae. "Az-iri'le is what I prefer, but in general, we are known as the Mountain colony."x. None, baring Sevvy and herself, actually called their colony by her favoured name. If she pressed it into Aana now, perhaps he would be confused and believe that Az-iri'le was what they went by. Hmm...now he knew a bit about them, but there was sparse information about him. Her kyn were analyzing him covertly as was she, although they were more efficient and proficient at doing that than she was. Still, she assumed that there was little to be gained from his appearance alone. She'd have to...question him. Guh. "What brings you up to these parts, Aanasae?"[/blockquote][/blockquote] and maybe you'll find life is unkind and over so soon THERE IS NO GOLDEN GATE, THERE'S NO HEAVEN WAITING FOR YOU

Aanasae watched, politely only half-interested as one of the cats addressed Casimir. He noted that it was a she-cat. His brain suddenly registered that all the cats he'd seen so far were she-cats. He looked back at some of the cats milling around. Yup. She-cats.
The brown kitten was curious as to the cause, but he didn't have much time to dwell on this new fact as Casimir responded. "Az-iri'le," he repeated quietly, mulling over the word. Mountain colony. So he had been accurate in guessing the location. His look around the camp a moment ago had also showed him that some of the cats were glancing atn him from time to time, secretly observing him. So they weren't as ignorant as first impressions would grant them. Reserved maybe. Perhaps it was suspicion? It was too early to tell. But he was starting to get the feeling, looking at these cats, that his white stripes were unusual (and, of course, his wings. that was something he already instinctively knew).
Yellow eyes looked up into the Matriach as she exchanged another question of her own. What brought him to these parts? And interesting question to ask a kit, but Aanasae's mind was focusing on answering the question, not analyzing it. "I woke up, and you found me right after..." he trailed off, his face furrowing in concentration as his gaze following his voice. Where was he from? That was the place to start. He hadn't recognised the landscape, so he didn't come from the mountains.... or maybe he did... after all, he'd known what a mountainside was, right? Puzzlement and bewilderment shone in his eyes. What could he remember? The was a shade of a memory, had it been dark, or was that just the lack of the memory?... part of a cat... "My mother..." he mumbled under his breath, to quiet for Casimir to fully catch, "she was a tabby..." Or was it tabby? Surely it was his mother though, because who else would he have been around? But there was the possibility that it could have been a different cat too...
The mystery kitten realigned his head with Casimir's, innocent and utterly confused. "I...can't say."

x. "I'm sorry, what was -" Harar! She had to stop interrupting every time her companion paused to think. Aanasae couldn't have meant for her to attend to his mutterings (they were clearly part of him and for him.) It was odd to observe another feline chattering to themselves; even if it was in a rather subdued manner. Casimir oft did it herself, but she fancied her murmurs were flamboyant, dramatic, and not looked ill upon. Although, that nearly raised questions on how she thought she ought to be seen, if she wanted to be seen as a complete loon. Nearly. She dropped gazes with the kitling sheepishly, but resumed her previous attentiveness when he replied. x. "Hmm...if my guesses are correct - and they usually are - then you have a light case of memory loss. With hope, your former life will return to you." Casimir's words were more for her colony then for Aanasae, her reassurance going both ways. Answering the question the fela's sent to her (with their subtle, quick glances) - No, she didn't entertain the notion that he was a spy and they wouldn't either - and perhaps keeping the innocent kitling in high hopes. It could be better to have lower expectations, less disappointment you see, but Casimir had no desire to please a depressed little one. "For the moment, do you have any other questions?"
