Timestar watched with silent, experienced approval as the younger tom slowly 'disappeared', the only visible parts of the leader himself being the bright eyes. Even they quickly faded, as he kept himself in total silence, watching the owl sense Ancientpaw but react too late to save itself. It was quiet a moment before his apprentice reappeared, with the owl limp at his paws. Timestar touched his nose to it lightly and looked at Ancientpaw, before craning his neck to see sunlight starting to trail through the sky, the moon no more than a faint spot in the far west.
"I see, you have trained well, let us get some rest."
The tom mewed warmly, before taking the large bird in his jaws and carrying it back towards the pine sheltered camp, blinking and resisting a yawn around the many feathers. His eyes trailed to Ancientpaw, smiling in themselves with approval at how well his apprentice was coming along. He'll be a warrior soon at this rate. The leader entered the camp and left the owl between the nursery and the elder's den, before stretching and heading to his hidden den in the folds of the camp, as the dawn made its way through the trees.

Ancientpaw followed Timestar and yawned. He was tired and the owl took his remaining strength from him that night. He entered the Apprentice's Den and curled up in his nest glad that he had done another day of successful training. Once more Timestar had pushed him just enough to wear him out, but not be in pain, except maybe for his paws." The indigo apprentice was glad for the rest and glad that the Elders and Queens would be well fed for a little while. He had taken on the owl alone! That was something to boast about for a few days. Ancientpaw was sure that the other apprentices were this skilled yet. Soon Ancientpaw was dreaming of his family and what it might be like if they were there and watching him become a warrior.

Timestar nestled himself down into his nest and closed his eyes.
*Time Skip*
The sun was setting, the shadows creeping in on all sides. The leader flinched and rose from his sleep, yawning deeply and blinking as his eyes adjusted to the light that still filtered into his den. Timestar shook his fur out and groomed some of it down, plucking out a stray feather that had managed to cling to his shoulder from his nest. The blue hued tom twitched his nose and padded out, surveying the camp before racing over to the fresh kill pile, selecting a big squirrel to eat. He ate it ravenously, for he always had a large appetite in the beginning of the "day". Licking his whisker pads happily, the leader glanced towards the Apprentice's den before watching the last of the sun disappear.

Ancientpaw's inner "clock" went off and the indigo apprentice yawned and slowly blinked the sleep from his eyes. He saw the sun setting and Timestar looking at the Apprentice Den. Ancientpaw stood and stretched his muscles back into the waking world and padded out of his den that he shared with the other apprentices. The small tom joined his mentor by the fresh-kill pile and said, "Good evening Timestar. What are we doing tonight?" Ancientpaw was excited about his training and he wanted to please his mentor the best he could.

Timestar licked over a squirrel bone a bit as Ancientpaw approached, before burying the rest and covering it firmly. Shaking his fur a bit and turning to Ancientpaw, he looked past at the glittering stars before paying attention to his apprentice.
"There is not much more to cover, though we haven't brushed up on fighting skills in a bit."
Timestar mused thoughtfully, padding towards the camp entrance with a slight trot. But even his light, warm mood could not mask the no doubt changing seasons, how the breezes were increasingly less frequent and cool, how the temperatures at night were plunging every few days. Soon, the cats of TwilightClan would be training and hunting in deep snow, the time of leaf-bare, though it was only leaf-fall for the moment.
As he padded under the pines and occasional oak, he noted the leaf-litter and more needles underpaw. Things are already changing. With a breeze carrassing his fur, it brought promise, promise of change, one of the few things in life that never changed itself. Timestar let out a sigh through his nose, bright yellow eyes watching the underbrush for prey and foes.

Ancientpaw smiled up at his mentor and then remembered Icekit. "Timestar. I have a question." He paused not sure how to word his question right. "Icekit wants to be an apprentice already and I said I would run it by you to see what you think of him joining us for one session so he could get an idea of how the training works. I told him that if you said no then it meant no and that he had to stay here, but that if you said yes then he has to follow your orders or run the risk of not leaving the camp again until he became an apprentice himself." Ancientpaw looked at his mentor and asked, "Will you let Icekit watch this next training session?"

Timestar turned to his apprentice in slight surprise as the younger tom spoke of Icekit, the restless, bored kit who often stared wistfully out at the camp as he lay confined to the nursery. The leader mulled it over a moment, weighing pros and cons of the idea, before answering thoughtfully.
"Icekit may watch, but he must stay in my sight at all times, and is not to interrupt. However, he may ask questions once we complete the training session."
The dark blue and light blue tom spoke with authority, stopping in his padding and giving Ancientpaw a moment to run back and get Icekit. Timestar gazed up at the pines, as they did not change their needle colors, but some began to grow pine cones, and the feline watched as birds flitted in and out of the trees. He sighed warmly to himself, the earthy scents of the forest having put him in a peaceful, thoughtful mood.

Ancientpaw's fur bristled with happiness as he mentor said yes and turned to rush back to find Icekit. The apprentice couldn't believe that Timestar had actually said yes! Icekit was going to be so happy. He burst into the camp and looked around. The last time he had seen Icekit was near the leader's den, so he went to check there.
