The names here aren't what I'm used to. Are some of the cats renamed? Or is there a different naming system?

No, I don't think so. Some have names that seem like one word sometimes though, but it's the same naming system as in the Warriors books by Erin Hunter.

The same system, you say? Could someone explain some things about these names to me, then?

Well, I not the best, but I'll try. Though you should ask Leafia. Some cats as you know in the first series of Warriors where Firestar arrives and stuff. There was a elder called One-eye and later Brightpaw was named Lostface then Brightheart, so there is a renaming ceremony. But, I'm sure the names you find confusing are people's imaginations going wild or something like that.

Yeah. A lot of the names are just people making up a word out of the dictionary and adding an ending to it. Other people go to www.seventhsanctum.com/index-name.php (Seventh Sanctum). It gives many different names for fantasies, evil characters, etc.

The names here don't really have any rules to them, though they can't be ridiculous like Fifteenfire or Dyingheart, or Forgottenflames, ect.
I'm sure you're used to the traditional names, like Brackenfoot, Toadtail, and so on, some of the names here are different because the roleplayers made them a bit wild xD
I'll admit I have some weird names in here too; Galaxyheart, Amarantheyes, Disappearingact, Timestar... xP

"There was a elder called One-eye" -- Yeah, I know. Cats can be renamed. Can either of y'all tell me if any of the cats here were renamed?
"The names here don't really have any rules to them" -- They all seem to have a prefix and suffix, so that would be a rule. The mother gives a newborn a name like Snowkit, or what have you, and then the leader gives a new suffix when the cat becomes a warrior, no? If the cat is a medicine cat apprentice, though, the medicine cat gives the new suffix. Do you follow those rules here?
"I'm sure you're used to the traditional names" -- I'm used to a lot of cosmic and colorful names, too, but it's a broad category.

Ahh, now it makes more sense. No, none of the cats here were ever renamed, except of course kits and apprentices who were moving up, like Snowkit becoming Snowpaw and then Snowstorm.
Yes we follow those rules here, what I meant was there weren't any rules to what the names could contain. The names could be something like Sprinkledip as the roleplayer explained why the cat had such an unusual name.

How does Duskwing have wings? --She could be named after a dusky brown night hawk, which, obviously, has wings.
Does Sleepingsky always seem to be sleeping? --Sleepingsky may have been a very lethargic kit. And a 'sleeping' sky may be cloudy and hazey looking, as though in a dream, and her fur might look all hazey and blurred because of its pattern, colors, or texture.
How is Reflectingpaw reflecting? -- She may have been born by a shimmering, reflecting pool. And since this Warriors roleplay features unusual cats, her fur or eyes may have a reflective, almost glassy shimmer to them.
Did Ancientwinds have that prefix as a kit? -- Yes Ancientwinds began as Ancientkit. He may have taken after a legendary, ancient ancestor in the family.
Was Bitingtail born biting? -- That name may have been changed in the past by a nonroleplayed leader because the cat showed they had an aggressive style of fighting and attacking. And yes, he/she could have been born biting much harder than the other kits, something a mother cat would definately notice.
How does Appleblaze have a blaze? -- A blaze may refer to a type of marking that animals like cats, horses, and dogs can get, usually a stripe down the face, that is simply called a blaze. Appleblaze may have one, or she may have survived or helped save someone else during a forest fire.
How does Ripplefrost look like a ripple? -- Similiar to Reflectingpaw- they may have fur that looks like ripples, since the cats here are supposed to be different, or they may have been born by a puddle as it rippled during a rain shower.
How does Galaxyheart look like a galaxy? -- Aha you caught me there. She was named such because her fur was mottled purple and blue with starry patterns, and her mother was a lover of the night sky and everything in it. Since her mother was a TwilightClanner, they have spectacular eyesight at night, and I'm inferring that her mother could see the other bands of stars, just like you would be able to if you were far from civilization with no air pollution.
How does Weatherdrop look like weather? -- Simplest one. She was born during some kind of weather that meant a lot to her parents; perhaps it was sunshine, rain, or snow, and they like that weather, and their kit, so there you go.
How does Blacklight have a light? -- The kit could be named such because they have a very light, cheerful, bright personality that lights up those around them with their optomism. Or perhaps the cat is good at spotting lights at night, like stars or shadows.
How was Caringheart caring as a kit? -- From her kithood she may have been kind by letting her weaker siblings nurse first, or she may have resembled a caring relative or friend of one of the parents.
How does Twisterstar look like a twister? -- Her original name was Twisterwhisp because of the whisps of black markings on her coat resemble tornadoes, also known as twisters. She also may have been born during a tornado/twister storm, deep underground in TornadoClan's dens.
Does Bluetalon have talons? -- No, but she might be named after a blue bird that does have talons, because she might have a similiar nature or appearance to the bird.
How does Echopaw look like an echo? -- She doesn't look like it, but at birth her parents might have heard an echo of something and decided to name her that. >D
How is Disappearingact disappearing? -- That I explained in his history and personality. Amazing what biographies can do eh? He is called that because he was born outside of the Clans as a city cat, originally named Bolt because he was the least dominant of his siblings and bolted or jumped at the slightest disturbance. After he was found near SunsetClan, he was named Disappearingpaw because he had SunsetClan's ability to camoflauge and blend in like a cameleon, which he used to get out of any situation he didn't feel comfortable in. If he didn't blend in, he would dart away or hide, seemingly disappearig.
With Glitterheart, how do they know about glitter? -- It is an adjective they use to describe the surface of water, or the twinkle of stars or frost. And, keep in mind the cats here have many strange mutations, one of them being StarClan's legendary glittering fur. Glitterheart was probably born with such a mutation, and her mother was apt to name her after it.
How does Amarantheyes look like an amaranth? --An amaranth is a legendary, immortal orange and purple flower, and Amarantheyes is orange and purple with floral designs on her coat. It is also a class or family of wild grains that are often deep purple or blue in color. Amarantheyes has dark blue eyes. No doubt her mother was wandering through SunsetClan and TornadoClan territory where these grasses and grains grow, and thought of them when she saw her kit.
How does Valleydancer look like a valley? -- Her coat colors may match the colors of the valley she was born in or near to; like, if she was a white kit and the valley was covered in snow, she might be named after the valley she looked similiar to at her birth.
Does Hawkrain have rain? -- No, but he may have helped the Clan during a storm by agreeing to go hunting or patrolling in the cold rain when nobody else wanted to, or other things similiar to that.
Was Grievingpaw born grieving? -- No, but he may have been born with a deformed face that gave him the look of doing so. He also may have been born looking like a loved one that had passed away very recently, to where the mother was still grieving and couldn't help but think of the loved one when she saw him.
How does Spicepaw look like spice? -- Most spicey smelling or tasting plants are bright red or orange in color, or their food parts are. Spicepaw mostly likely is bright red or orange in color, and may have been born near the medicine cat's den or under a spicey plant.
Was Dancingpaw born dancing? -- Sometimes cats come from histories other than that of a Clan cat, like in the city for example. She may have been nicknamed "Dancer" for her bubbly, bouncey way of walking or acting, and took that nickname with her to the Clans to be identified by.
How does Brambleberry look like bramble? --Looks are not everything. She may have been born under a bramble bush or been named after a family member or friend with the same prefix or suffix.
Does Ebonyleaf have leaves? --Her name likely describes a black or dark colored plant, which are usually venomous or have some other sort of dangerous trait such as thorns, and since she is known to have a sharp tongue and sharp, precise way of working, it is almost a no-brainer that she is named after the plant she takes after.
Was Silenteagle born silent? -- Yes, he most nearly was. His whole litter bullied and dominated him to the point of where he rarely spoke until he escaped his kithood environment and came to the Clans.
How is Patchedmemory's memory patched? -- She remembers little or none of her past, only recalling a few snips here and there of what happened before.
How does Leafmoon look like a leaf? -- You could ask Leafpool the same question. Sometimes kits are named after nearby things in their environment, which is Leafmoon's case, and also because her mother had a beloved friend named Leafpelt, whom she named her kit after.
Does Duskleaf have leaves? --Refer to Ebonyleaf's response, for the explanation is nearly the same.
How does Solstice-serenade look like a solstice? -- The solstices are usually the darkest days or nights of the year, and Solstice-serenade has a very dark pelt. She also may have been born on a solstice.
How does Blasterpaw look like a blaster? --He doesn't look like one per se, but being a calico, he looks like he was painted with a paintball gun, which 'blasts' paint to form splotches wherever the paint lands. He may have been born in a twoleg home and named after the twoleg paintball gun.
How does Butterflypaw look like a butterfly? --Pretty simple. Since the cats here have unusual looks, she most likely has markings or a pattern on her coat that resembles a butterfly, or she may have been born somewhere that has or was known to have a lot of butterflies.
How does Crimepaw look like crime? -- A bitter parent may have named him that because he looked like a villainous cat that one of the parents had met, or they might have had a sign from StarClan that he would commit crimes.
How does Freepaw look free? -- Similiar to Crimepaw's explanation; Freepaw may look just like an independent, free-spirited cat one of its parents had met, or it may have acted dominant and independent from kithood.
How does Briarkit look like briar? --A briar is basically a large thorn, which are usually brown or gray in color, and if the kit is gray or brown or was born near a briar bush, there you go.
How does Skykit look like the sky? --Just look at her description; she might have a light blue-gray coat that resembles the sky, or she might have been born in or near something that made her mother think of the legendary SkyClan.
How does Crookkit look like a crook? --This is easily explained by his description. He was born with a crook in his tail, like a bone that formed bent over like a hook.
How does Wishstar look like a wish? -- Names do not always apply to physical appearances alone. Wishstar's mother may have been bitter in not wanting the kits, and 'wished' she never had them. Or, it could have been the other way around: Wishstar's mother might have wished long and hard for kits, and when she finally got them, it was only fate to name one of her wishes come true after all her work.
How does Jasmineheart look like jasmine? -- Jasmine is a dark green plant with stark white flowers. Jasmineheart has patches of dark green fur and also some bright white patches, which resembles the plant.
How does Timebringer look like time? -- Again, looks are not everything. As with Timestar's history, Timebringer's mother was probably very surprised to find her kit was rainbow colored-- it was the first 'time' she had ever seen a cat like that before. It could have also been the first or last 'time' she would have kits, or see her kit before being forced to give him away.
Was Brokensoul broken as a kit? -- Perhaps. She may have been born with a broken bone, but it is not clear since she rarely talks or shares her past. What we do know is she was born to a loner mother who, when she last saw, was fighting a wolf, and Brokensoul may have been called broken because of the sadness and despair she would have felt about leaving her mother to flee for her own safety, and not knowing if her mother is alive. She is said to be a sad, guarded soul, which explains her name.
Was Tatteredspirit tattered as a kit? --No, but her history tells she was born outside the Clans, and therefor outside general naming customs. Her parents were killed when she was around 15 moons old, and after that she and her brother split up and after a while she found TornadoClan, who probably found her as a sad, grief-ridden soul who used to be full of life until her parents were ripped from her life--- leaving her in tatters.
Was Amoristkit an amorist as a kit? -- Amorist means 'one devoted to love or writing about love'. The kit may have been born a very compassionate, loving kit who dearly loved her family, which was not a part of the Clans. Such affection would have been present when the kit was with her family.
How does Solarsystem look solar? -- It is in his description; the colors and shapes on his coat resemble the many planets of the solar system. As for how he discovered such planets, some planets like Venus, Mars, and many others come close enough to be seen through our atmosphere every 20 years or so, and because Solarsystem is an elder, he has probably seen one or two. His parents may have been the same way. And since the cats here often have mutations such as extremely keen eyesight, it is quite possible he was born under a "visiting" planet, and his parents saw it, and named him after it.
Ehehe half an hour of typing and research go a long way. xP

I would prefer that you would answer questions that you're somewhat sure about rather than give me guesses.
"She could be named after a dusky brown night hawk, which, obviously, has wings." -- Is the organism to which you're refering called a nighthawk, and can be dusky brown, or is this the particular dusty brown night hawk which is refered to by that name and can be dusky brown alone?
"Sleepingsky may have been a very lethargic kit". -- Isn't that a sign of illness?
"And a 'sleeping' sky may be cloudy and hazey looking," -- Was she named Sleepingkit or Sleepingsky as a kit?
"her fur might look all hazey and blurred because of its pattern, colors, or texture." -- How so?
"She may have been born by a shimmering, reflecting pool." -- Is there a shimmering pool in the nursery?
"And since this Warriors roleplay features unusual cats, her fur or eyes may have a reflective, almost glassy shimmer to them." -- Kits are born with their eyes closed. Does she have fur like a mirror?
"Yes Ancientwinds began as Ancientkit. He may have taken after a legendary, ancient ancestor in the family." -- Who? And how so?
"That name may have been changed in the past by a nonroleplayed leader because the cat showed they had an aggressive style of fighting and attacking." -- More so than the cats who recieve -fang or -claw as a suffix? What was his previous name? Why bother to change the prefix?
"And yes, he/she could have been born biting much harder than the other kits, something a mother cat would definately notice." -- The kit wouldn't be born biting, but I know what you mean. Was this Bitingtail's only distinguishing trait?
"A blaze may refer to a type of marking that animals like cats, horses, and dogs can get, usually a stripe down the face, that is simply called a blaze." -- I know what a blaze is, silly goose.
"Appleblaze may have one," -- Does she?
"or she may have survived or helped save someone else during a forest fire." -- Did no one else survive or help anyone during this fire?
"Similiar to Reflectingpaw- they may have fur that looks like ripples, since the cats here are supposed to be different," -- Does s/he?
"or they may have been born by a puddle as it rippled during a rain shower." -- Was the kit not born in the nursery? Is the nursery not covered and was Ripplekit the only kit in the litter?
"Aha you caught me there." -- o.o What do you mean?
"Since her mother was a TwilightClanner, they have spectacular eyesight at night," -- Their eyes are equivilant to telescopes?
"and I'm inferring that her mother could see the other bands of stars, just like you would be able to if you were far from civilization with no air pollution." -- Some of the brighter and clearer constellations, you mean?
"Simplest one. She was born during some kind of weather that meant a lot to her parents" -- All kits are born in weather. Why'd they care?
"The kit could be named such" -- You mean warrior?
"Or perhaps the cat is good at spotting lights at night, like stars or shadows." -- Better than other cats? Does Blacklight have nothing else to do at night but to report what lights s/he sees? Why would s/he be doing that?
"From her kithood she may have been kind by letting her weaker siblings nurse first," -- Have you seen newborn kittens?
"or she may have resembled a caring relative or friend of one of the parents." -- Who? How so?
"tornadoes, also known as twisters." -- Do you think I don't know that?
"She also may have been born during a tornado/twister storm, deep underground in TornadoClan's dens." -- Was she? Also, was she the only kit in her litter? Also, how often do tornados occur in that setting?
"No, but she might be named after a blue bird" -- You mean a bluebird? Or just a bird that happens to be blue?
"She doesn't look like it, but at birth her parents might have heard an echo of something and decided to name her that. >D" -- Where were they that was condusive to echos? What were they hearing an echo of? Is it unusual to hear echos there? Why did it catch their attention?
...and why are you making faces at me?
"Amazing what biographies can do eh?" -- Maybe if I read them.
"He is called that because he was born outside of the Clans as a city cat," -- Why'd he leave the city? Why'd he want to join a Clan? Why'd they let him?
"originally named Bolt because he was the least dominant of his siblings and bolted or jumped at the slightest disturbance." -- At what age?
"he had SunsetClan's ability to camoflauge and blend in like a cameleon," -- Like all cats? Or could he change actual colors?
"Glitterheart was probably born with such a mutation," -- So is he glittery, or no?
"An amaranth is a legendary, immortal orange and purple flower," -- In the legends of what culture?
"Her coat colors may match the colors of the valley she was born in or near to; like, if she was a white kit and the valley was covered in snow," -- Is she white? Is the this valley always covered in snow?
"No, but he may have helped the Clan during a storm by agreeing to go hunting or patrolling in the cold rain when nobody else wanted to" -- Is everyone else in the Clan a wuss?
"No, but he may have been born with a deformed face that gave him the look of doing so." -- Was he? How is that not dishonorable?
"He also may have been born looking like a loved one that had passed away very recently," -- Was he? How is that not dishonorable?
"to where the mother was still grieving and couldn't help but think of the loved one when she saw him." -- Do you have any comprehension of the animal mothering instinct?
"Most spicey smelling or tasting plants are bright red or orange in color, or their food parts are." -- What spices grow in this area?
"She may have been nicknamed "Dancer" for her bubbly, bouncey way of walking or acting, and took that nickname with her to the Clans to be identified by." -- So she wasn't born a Clan cat; you're sure? Why'd she move to this area? Why'd she want to join a Clan? Why'd they let her? Why didn't they give her a Clan cat name?
Also, how do cats know about dancing?
"Looks are not everything. She may have been born under a bramble bush" -- Is there a bramble bush in the nursery?
"or been named after a family member or friend with the same prefix or suffix." -- Okay. Why did that cat have bramble as a prefix or suffix?
"Her name likely describes a black or dark colored plant," -- What plant?
"which are usually venomous or have some other sort of dangerous trait such as thorns, and since she is known to have a sharp tongue and sharp, precise way of working, it is almost a no-brainer that she is named after the plant she takes after." -- You mean she's named after the leaves of the 'plant' she takes after? Are the leaves of this plant poisonous?
"Yes, he most nearly was." -- Meaning he wasn't?
"His whole litter bullied and dominated him to the point of where he rarely spoke until he escaped his kithood environment and came to the Clans." -- So he wasn't born in a Clan? Why'd he leave? Why'd he come here? Why'd he want to join a Clan? Why'd they let him?
"She remembers little or none of her past, only recalling a few snips here and there of what happened before." -- o.o Why is that? What was her previous name? Why does no one else remember it?
"You could ask Leafpool the same question." -- No, I couldn't. On that note, are you under the impression that I give credence to the books?
"Sometimes kits are named after nearby things in their environment, which is Leafmoon's case," -- So there are leaves in the nursery? Wasn't that the case with every other kit?
"and also because her mother had a beloved friend named Leafpelt," -- Why was she named that?
"The solstices are usually the darkest days or nights of the year, and Solstice-serenade has a very dark pelt." -- Does she have a serenade?
"He doesn't look like one per se, but being a calico," -- He's a male calico?
"he looks like he was painted with a paintball gun," -- How do they know about paintball guns?
"He may have been born in a twoleg home and named after the twoleg paintball gun." -- Was he or wasn't he?
"she most likely has markings or a pattern on her coat that resembles a butterfly, or she may have been born somewhere that has or was known to have a lot of butterflies." -- So which is it?
"A bitter parent may have named him that because he looked like a villainous cat that one of the parents had met, or they might have had a sign from StarClan that he would commit crimes." -- So which is it?
"Similiar to Crimepaw's explanation; Freepaw may look just like an independent, free-spirited cat one of its parents had met, or it may have acted dominant and independent from kithood." -- So which is it?
"A briar is basically a large thorn," -- Yes, I know.
"which are usually brown or gray in color," -- What briar bushes grow in this setting?
"if the kit is gray or brown" -- Was it?
"Just look at her description;" -- Meaning you don't know the answer?
"He was born with a crook in his tail, like a bone that formed bent over like a hook." -- Is this a realistic defect, or part of the fantasy atmosphere?
"Wishstar's mother may have been bitter in not wanting the kits, and 'wished' she never had them." -- Why the heck would she wish that?
"Or, it could have been the other way around: Wishstar's mother might have wished long and hard for kits, and when she finally got them, it was only fate to name one of her wishes come true after all her work." -- Was Wishkit the only kit in the litter?
"Jasmine is a dark green plant with stark white flowers." -- Again, I know that.
"As with Timestar's history, Timebringer's mother was probably very surprised to find her kit was rainbow colored-- it was the first 'time' she had ever seen a cat like that before. It could have also been the first or last 'time' she would have kits, or see her kit before being forced to give him away." -- So why was he named Timekit? And yes, I see your little apostrophe quotes. The question stands.
"Perhaps." -- So you don't know?
"What we do know is she was born to a loner mother who, when she last saw, was fighting a wolf," -- Does her mother have superpowers? Or is she an idiot?
"No, but her history tells she was born outside the Clans," -- Why'd she want to join a Clan? Why'd they let her?
"Her parents were killed" -- Why? And why would they remind her of it in her name?
"Amorist means 'one devoted to love or writing about love'." -- Do you think I can't use a dictionary?
"The kit may have been born a very compassionate, loving kit" -- As a blind, deaf newborn?
"who dearly loved her family, which was not a part of the Clans." -- If her family isn't in a Clan, why is she in a Clan?
"It is in his description; the colors and shapes on his coat resemble the many planets of the solar system. As for how he discovered such planets, some planets like Venus, Mars, and many others come close enough to be seen through our atmosphere every 20 years or so, and because Solarsystem is an elder, he has probably seen one or two." -- Whether he has seen planets is irrelevant. Why would his mother name him Solarkit?
"And since the cats here often have mutations such as extremely keen eyesight" -- How keen?
Again, please don't give me answers unless you feel sure about them.
On a side note, do you think that I am stupid?

I'm not going to go in depth like Leafia here did,but I can answer a few things.Well about my cats.
Ebonyleaf -she has a leaf shaped marking on her that is slightly darker than the rest of her fur, henceforth her name. good guess though leafia.
Caringheart -she had a rather crazy mother who thought if she named her kit a certain way that they would grow up like that. and well, she was always the nicest of her litter
Patchedmemory -she was born with darker 'patches' on her fur.simple. then since she can remember little about what happened between the time she was lost in a city to when she came back, her leader gave her that name.
Skykit -She is a blue-gray kit with almost cloud like markings.
Crookkit -Crook in his tail.and yes that is a real defect. (i'm going to say could, since this is a fantasy rpg ) it could have been broken while in the womb still.or not formed properly.
Brokensoul -ten ,if you looked at her bio, it says that her mother was attacked by a lone wolf. she personally asked for the suffix 'soul'.her name was already broken. she joined the clans in a time of need for both her and the clan. they grudging allowed her,but only accepted her when she proved herself to them.
Just take in mind, these clans are new so the cats in them haven't yet really gotten a grasp on naming yet. If this was real then perhaps a mother or father could have just randomly named the kit.

Thank you Mai, and ten, it appears you may have more questions than I have answers. I'm a bit confused by how you worded some things, but no we don't think you're stupid, and I'm assuming you give credence to the Warriors books because, well, the Erins came up with the idea of Clan cats and their naming system - not the many diehard fans who have thought of a billion ways they could name the cats better. I'm probably wrong, but you seem to be leaning towards the latter from what I can gather. On the leaf- prefix subject, that is a universal kit name, and I don't know why you're asking me why it was used. I honestly do not know; ask the Erins why that name is used, they could answer it better than I could. I'm afraid ten that I do not know the full history of every cat character on this site, nor every character's total family history, which is why I can't answer many of your questions. Personally I find that may be overthinking a bit. Roleplays are meant to be fun, not perfect. The reason so many loners have joined the Clans is because, if you look at the plot, Timestar recently recreated the Clans. He is still alive; the Clans were recreated very shortly ago, so Clan life is still staggering at this point, and naming rules are at the bottom of the cats' to-do lists for now. It may develop more with time, but for the moment it hasn't. I also want to point out that Konara Forests is not meant to be a down-to-earth roleplay, or anything like any other roleplay. It sacrifices realism in some places for the sake of originality, I will admit, but it is intended. The names may not make sense, but it is a matter of opinion. Some people like what I consider the dull names, like Browntail, Stripedfoot, ect, but those names get boring after a while, for there is little variety. That's why there's no real limits to the names here, for it is meant to be a roleplay where your imagination is your limit. I hope I've helped at least a little in helping you understand, but I'm sad to say that if you're finding this many faults with our roleplay, it might not be your best choice if you have to question so many aspects of it before you can enjoy it. And while I'm here... There was recently a spammer on our c-box by the name of Toasty. They claim to have followed you from the site you two are on. I sadly don't have any screenshots since the computer I'm on is a much older model and can't take screenshots, but Toasty and another spammer came on the c-box and rudely insulted our site, and me, for the names we have. If you could ask them to please not return to our site, I would greatly appreciate it. Here is what they wrote: Toasty: -spamspamspamspamspam- Toasty: blah the names on this site are so DUMb. Toasty: I mean seriously? Timebringer? FAIL SmookieBums: lol I hate the names on here I mean seriously if I look at them one more time I will just die! SmookieBums: and then I will come back from the dead to insult you some more! At this point, Midnightbloo came on the chat and asked them to quit insulting us and to leave, and if they had a problem they should take it up with me. If you could ask them to leave us alone, I would greatly appreciate it, for I take Internet harrassment very seriously and I will not hesitate to involve the police if that's what I need to do to keep my site safe. I know this may bit a lot for me to ask, but again it would be greatly appreciated if you could help in any way.

Let me start by saying that I joined this site with a mind to actually role play here and develop my characters. I've been searching for a good fantasy Warriors role play for a while now, and this looks like a nice place that I would like to try.
But of course, when I saw Ten had made a post, I just had to read it. A lot of time she brings up good points and I just wanted to see what she said about a fantasy site such as this one. Some of your answers, however, made me have my own questions/responses. I ask you only answer my questions if you know the answer for sure.
I understand that this is a fantasy role play, and that the cats look diffrent from other cats. So the question of whether they look like something will be left out. Of course, we all know the prefix is suppose to describe how the cat looks in some way. And in some cases at this site, the prefix cannot possibly do that. How a cat can look like time is beyond me.
"Sleepingsky may have been a very lethargic kit." --- ~ At birth, there is practically no difference between kits. They all have one thing on their mind, which is to get something to eat, then sleep. A cat who was lethargic the moment they were born is more than likely sick and would not make it past kithood.
"something a mother cat would definately notice." --- ~Naming a car after a negative trait can be considered cruel. And like I mentioned above, kits all act pretty much the same at birth. Unless one is sick.
"That name may have been changed in the past by a nonroleplayed leader because the cat showed they had an aggressive style of fighting and attacking" --- ~ I know Ten addressed this, but I would just like to point it out again. A suffix such as -claw or -fang could represent fighting ability as well.
Also, what does Bitingtail look like and what was his/her original name?
"else during a forest fire." --- ~ And she would be named for saving some other cat from a fire why? Especially since she would have to be an apprentice unless this was a rename. Why could this other cat not save themselves, why have to rely on an apprentice? And was Appleblaze the only one to attempt a rescue? Why?
"Simplest one. She was born during some kind of weather that meant a lot to her parents; perhaps it was sunshine, rain, or snow, and they like that weather, and their kit, so there you go." --- ~ All cats are born during weather. If her parents liked the weather so much, why not name her after the weather directly? Why not Rain- or Snow-? Why Weather- in general? And was she an only kit?
"From her kithood she may have been kind by letting her weaker siblings nurse first," --- ~ Again, all kits have similar actions and "personalities" at birth.
"because she might have a similiar nature or appearance to the bird." --- ~ So her prefix, Blue-, implies she was named after the bird because of appearance. But a bird cannot act like a talon, neither can a cat.
"but at birth her parents might have heard an echo of something and decided to name her that" --- ~ Why this kit? Was she an only kit? What about the echo was so special that she was named after it? What was the echo?
" he may have been born with a deformed face that gave him the look of doing so." --- ~ Why remind him of his deformity for his entire life?
"passed away very recently, to where the mother was still grieving and couldn't help but think of the loved one when she saw him." --- ~ Why remind him/the rest of the clan of the loved one lost?
"Spicepaw mostly likely is bright red or orange in color," --- ~ Most spices I know of are darker greens. What spices grow here?
"Her name likely describes a black or dark colored plant," --- ~ Ebony trees are grown only in Africa, I believe. Cats would not, or at least should not, know of that word in context with a plant.
"came to the Clans." --- ~ Why give him a name about his past then? Wouldn't the clans be a good fresh start for him where he can establish himself as who he really is, not some bullied kit?
"She remembers little or none of her past, only recalling a few snips here and there of what happened before. " --- ~ Technically, Patchedmemory would imply the memory has been patched up, or restored.
"Leafmoon" --- ~ Why -moon?
"She also may have been born on a solstice." --- ~ Would cats know about that? And what about -serenade?
"He doesn't look like one per se, but being a calico, he looks like he was painted with a paintball gun, which 'blasts' paint to form splotches wherever the paint lands. He may have been born in a twoleg home and named after the twoleg paintball gun." --- ~ So was the twoleg part actually a part of his life? Or are you guessing? Also, how would cats know about Paintball guns? And male calicos would not be able to survive in the wild, do to genetic defects that come with being a male calico. They need constant medical attention.
"had a sign from StarClan that he would commit crimes." --- ~ Why name their kit after something degrading like that? Why would the clan not drive him out if he was destined to do a crime?
"Freepaw may look just like an independent, free-spirited cat one of its parents had met, or it may have acted dominant and independent from kithood." --- ~ All kits are similar at birth.
"Wishstar's mother might have wished long and hard for kits, and when she finally got them, it was only fate to name one of her wishes come true after all her work." --- ~ Are you aware that it is impossible for a mother to hate her kits? Quite literally, they do not have the brain power to do that.
Also, was s/he the only kit in the litter?
"It could have also been the first or last 'time' she would have kits, or see her kit before being forced to give him away." --- ~ Like Ten, I still do not see a proper explanation behind the name.
"but it is not clear since she rarely talks or shares her past. " --- ~ Why would she want the name Brokensoul if all it would do is remind her of her past, which seems so horrible?
"leaving her in tatters." (Tatteredspirit) --- ~ Same question as above.
"On the leaf- prefix subject, that is a universal kit name, and I don't know why you're asking me why it was used. I honestly do not know; ask the Erins why that name is used, they could answer it better than I could." --- ~ The Erins have explained that their use of Leaf- was because Leafpool was named after Spottedleaf and Leafstar. They admit it wasn't the best way to name a cat, and it was also paritally because of the new Erin who did not fully understand how the naming sytem worked before she was allowed to write some of the books.
Leaftsar was a loner named Leaf, Firestar is an idiot and did not change her name when she joined SkyClan.
Spottedleaf was named for her extrreme connection to StarClan and her skill with herbs.
I am sorry if I have made any mistkes grammar/spelling wise, English is not (technically) my first language. I am deaf and mostly use sign language to speak, which is slightly different from the regular English language. The school I attend, for deaf students, does not have a decent "writing" class until later grades.
I am aslso sorry if you feel I have repeated any questions that Ten asked. I tried not to.
I know this is a fantasy site, but basic things, like kits at birth and mother personalities seem not specified in this form of fanatasy. This site seems to mostly fantasize the colors and skills of a cat, not their personalties.
Also, I noticed that chat box you use for your site is a Xat one. It's been known that the Xat site has a tendency to be hacked and is easily able to get a virus of sort, which can be spread to your chatbox, and then your members. I do suggest switch to a chatbox from www.cbox.ws. But it is just a suggestion.

let me get his straight. all of you have spent the time to look at these names and comment on almost all of them? do none of you have anything to do? i'm serious. ten, after leafia gave you an answer to each of the questions you asked, you criticize them further. are the names that important to you that you have to waste the time of others instead of just generally commenting on it.
i'm just going to have to say this one more time even though mai and leafia brought it up in their previous posts; the clans are NEW. naming is really the last thing on their mind. as mai pointed out, they could have just been named after something that came to the leaders mind when they looked at them.
i'm a member on around 5 or 6 warrior rp's and have been a member of others in the past. most names somewhat like these. you know why? Because NO ONE CARES. so what if a kit is called sleepingkit. it's a game, loosely based of the warriors series. LOOSELY. it has the basic ideas of Warriors, but doesn't stick to everything. like the names.
just be glad you didn't insult my cats.i'm not usually this nice.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's having an issue with people who keep coming to critize names and that's all. I LOVE this site, and I LOVE all the names. I glad people have such vivid imaginations to make such creative names. Where do you think the Warriors series came from? The dictionary? No, it came from the great IMAGINATION of a author, without that there would be NO Warriors series. You may not have insulted my cats, but you did something much worse. I can take a hit, but when you mess with my friends, you mess greatly with me. The people on the sight are so fun, nice, and CREATIVE, that it hurts me dearly to see you destroy their pride and hardwork. I LOVE the name Twisterstar, Timebringer, Amarantheyes, Jasmineheart, Bluetalon, Brambleberry, Galaxyheart, Appleblaze, and much much more. Actually, I LOVE them all!!!

I did not know that about Xat boxes, Casting, I appreciate you telling me. The reason I got a xat is because I cannot buy a premium c-box that allows banning, which, as you've seen, comes in handy.
I know that many things involving the names here do not make much sense if we were to take them literally-- but if you look at the hundreds of other Warriors roleplays out there, 9/10 times you see names just like the ones on here, so we might not be unique in that sense. It would take an awful long time to go to each and every roleplay trying to tell people why their names would not technically be possible in the Warriors world.
To be honest, I cannot answer any of the naming questions, for neither I nor the members actually took the time to describe every moment of every cat's history, from their birth and onward. I tried to provide my best guesses, but as for any solid facts or proof, I have none.
I can attempt to explain the names of my own characters, but to be honest, despite whether their names make sense or not, I am not very motivated to change them. I've already roleplayed with them with their current names many times, made customized graphics for them, and so on, and to change their names now would be more trouble than it's worth.
Leafmoon- - I intended to use the name Leafpool when I first started roleplaying I think 2 years back, but many people let me know in various ways that it was plagerism and that I had to come up with something else. I really liked how Leafpool looked and sounded, so I tried to think of something else in the cats' environment that had two o's; -moon was the perfect word.
If you read Leafmoon's (long) history on her bio, you would probably not have any questions, but I'll make it short: Her mother named her Leafkit after an old friend she had named Leafpelt. I don't know why the other cat was name Leafpelt, I just thought it up, but let's say she had a leaf shaped birthmark on her... pelt. Leafkit was an only kit.
Her bio varies from site to site since she's my universal roleplay character, but I think her bio on here says both her parents had -moon somewhere in their name (mother: Moonsong, father: Bluemoon) Moonsong was named such because the Clan found her as an orphaned outsider kit under a full moon, and her fur was silvery in color and almost seemed to glow. She was often found humming and singing to herself, and was good at singing lullabies for kits. She requested her name. Her father was named for having a blue nose and paw pads, which was of course a little different, so Bluekit, and then later, Bluemoon, for he helped lead the Clan to victory in a battle on a night of a blue moon.
Later in Leafkit's history, both her parents died, and she requested the name Leafmoon to honor them and keep them with her always.
Timestar and Timebringer- - Timestar was originally Timefire, named in the plot because it was the first time his mother had seen a kit like him, being the first strangely colored cat of Konara Forests. His mother was told by StarClan that he had started a new time, a new era, of wild cats, and how they would live. Throughout his life he strived to meet StarClan's standards, attacking each task with 110% and a fiery enthusiasm, which earned him the name of Timefire, and later he became the first leader of the new Clans; Timestar.
As for Timebringer's name, it has a history too, but it ties in with the plot, and would be a major spoiler should I tell it out loud.
Hopefully your name curiousities are sastified at least a little; the roleplay boards look lonely. xD

"Well about my cats." -- Excellent.
"she has a leaf shaped marking on her that is slightly darker than the rest of her fur," -- Darker than black?
"she had a rather crazy mother who thought if she named her kit a certain way that they would grow up like that. and well, she was always the nicest of her litter" -- So her mother just so happened to be dead right even though you described her as being insane. What was wrong with her?
"she was born with darker 'patches' on her fur.simple. then since she can remember little about what happened between the time she was lost in a city to when she came back, her leader gave her that name." -- Why was she lost in a city?
"Crookkit Crook in his tail." -- Was this his only distinguishing trait? How is that not dishonorable?
"Brokensoul ten ,if you looked at her bio," -- I didn't.
"it says that her mother was attacked by a lone wolf." -- And died?
"she personally asked for the suffix 'soul'." -- Which has a connotation connected to StarClan. Why did she deserve it?
"her name was already broken. she joined the clans in a time of need for both her and the clan. they grudging allowed her,but only accepted her when she proved herself to them." -- Why'd she want to join and why'd they let her?
"these clans are new" -- How new? Why did they begin?
"I'm assuming you give credence to the Warriors books" -- I do not.
"I don't know why you're asking me why it was used." -- Because I don't know why it was used.
"I honestly do not know; ask the Erins why that name is used, they could answer it better than I could." -- No, they couldn't. I know how the Erins respond to questions of that sort.
"I'm afraid ten that I do not know the full history of every cat character on this site, nor every character's total family history, which is why I can't answer many of your questions." -- Then don't answer them. Not everything is directed at you.
"The names may not make sense" -- Sure, but they have reasons.
"those names get boring" -- You want a name to excite you?
"if you're finding this many faults with our roleplay" -- You equate asking questions with finding faults?
"Toasty and another spammer came on the c-box and rudely insulted our site, and me, for the names we have." -- They'll regret it.
"A lot of time she brings up good points" -- Aww. Thank you, Casting.
"I am sorry if I have made any mistkes grammar/spelling wise" -- Your English is perfect.
"do none of you have anything to do?" -- Of course we have things to do.
"ten, after leafia gave you an answer to each of the questions you asked, you criticize them further." -- Did I? What did I say? Or do you equate asking questions with criticism?
"Because NO ONE CARES." -- It's apparent otherwise.
"but if you look at the hundreds of other Warriors roleplays out there, 9/10 times you see names just like the ones on here" -- I do so more than you'd think. What's your point?
"Moonsong was named such because the Clan found her as an orphaned outsider kit" -- So, she was dead?
"She was often found humming and singing to herself" -- The cats here also have deformed vocal chords?
"then later, Bluemoon, for he helped lead the Clan to victory in a battle on a night of a blue moon." -- An irregular month or a time during which the moon was blue?
"As for Timebringer's name, it has a history too, but it ties in with the plot, and would be a major spoiler should I tell it out loud." -- The mother and leader must've had apparent reasons. Or did they call the cat by that name and refuse to explain the meaning if anyone asked?

"Moonsong was named such because the Clan found her as an orphaned outsider kit" So, she was dead?
--Not exactly. She wasn't a newborn, but still a kit. They had followed a scent trail trying to find the parents whom they assumed were intruders, but all they found was a kit. The warrior code says that no kit, no matter what origin, can be denied help if in need, so that would explain why they took her in.
"She was often found humming and singing to herself" -- The cats here also have deformed vocal chords?
--Probably. I hear my cat make humming noises at times (and no it's not purrs or growls or anything like that, it actually sounds like humming.) Yeahhh you don't believe me I'm sure but that's where Moonsong's idea branched off from.
"then later, Bluemoon, for he helped lead the Clan to victory in a battle on a night of a blue moon." -- An irregular month or a time during which the moon was blue?
--Both. The second full moons in months usually have a noticeable blue tint to them.
"As for Timebringer's name, it has a history too, but it ties in with the plot, and would be a major spoiler should I tell it out loud." -- The mother and leader must've had apparent reasons. Or did they call the cat by that name and refuse to explain the meaning if anyone asked?
--Again, it is supposed to be a plot twist. Loose lips sink ships.
And thank you for helping with the spammers. I hate to have to put that on anyone but I don't know the site they came from / where to find them.
